So apparently one of my plans for the New Year is to keep and maintain a blog.

It’s an idea I’ve had floating around for a while now, but with getting settled in the USA, and life being somewhat stable, now seems like good as a time as any, especially with it being a new year!

In fact I’m almost certain one of the reasons why I haven’t persevered with this project until now is because of the feeling that I have so much to talk about and didn’t know where to start. However, I’ve just come to terms that I don’t need to write massive essays on every subject every post.

Less, hopefully will be more, and will also keep any audience actually engaged with my posts.

And with that, onto this post’s topics:

Leeds United

My actual beloved professional football team from the UK.

Crazy things are happening in my home town, after 14 years of not being in the top tier of English football, my team are actually doing well!

For the first time in a while there is a beautiful optimism running through the club. The players, the coaching staff, the fans, and even the board (new 50% owners were announced yesterday) have finally started singing from the same hymn book.

And it feels fantastic!

Whilst I appreciate my friends and neutrals supporting other teams (especially the regular successful ones) it is so nice to have your support feeling like it is validated through some sort of success through the above mentioned channels.

What ever happens, it will be a great season for us, and I’m just hoping we don’t run out of steam in the bid to go up to the English Premier League either through the automatic places (unlikely, but our best chance), or via the play-offs (more likely, but a gamble). Personally, unless we strengthen in this transfer window, I unfortunately see us running out of steam and missing the play offs. But, at least the ship has been turned around and is sailing in the right direction!!!!!!!

As always; MOT (Marching On Together)!

Politics

Well, as the world waits for Mr Trump to become the leader of the western free world on the 20th of this month, everyone is going crazy wondering what will happen. Well, although i’m what you could call I leftist socialist democrat, I’m not actually shitting myself over this. Im keeping my eye on the appointments of his back room team, for sure (and some of those people range from being cretins, to being downright evil and somewhere in-between), but personally I think like Obama wasn’t the saviour of USA, I also don’t think Trump will be the apocalypse that some people are worried about. So now is certainly not the time for hysteria.

Maybe Trump does have a better way, no one knows as of yet. But, as democrats, lefties, and or socialists I have always thought of our side to be more progressive, and more open to new ways and new ideas. It is down to us; to listen, where by the opposition blocked out and covered their ears previously. And to not bury our heads in the sand if the argument is not going our way.

The un united states is a real thing at present and it is our responsibility to bring that back. So whilst we champion the rights and advances of the last 8 years, we also need to see how that has effected the others. Calling them racists, bigots, or other names isn’t really going to get anyone anywhere. We can, we will, and we must do better. But together, even with those we don’t like, love, or sometimes trust, will put us in a better position than where we are at presently.

Music

Again another idea for New Year was to try and listen to LP’s and EP’s by artists as whole works of art, rather than mixtape playlist listening in the way i’ve accustomed myself into doing, though in this section I still might list the odd track that I am digging!

LP’s:

Let It Bleed ~ The Rolling Stones

Heroes ~ David Bowie

Raw Power ~ Iggy Pop

Horses ~ Patti Smith

Blackstar ~ David Bowie

Singles:

I Don’t Want To Live Forever ~ ZYAN, Taylor Swift

That’s My Girl ~ Fifth Harmony

Gimme Shelter ~ Hawkwind & Samantha Fox

Television

The Office US Version

Black Mirror

The Blue Planet

Film

Star Wars: Rogue One

Hell or High Water

The Big Short

Snowden

Documentaries

13th

Insider Job

HyperNormalisation

Books

Hold ’em Wisdom for all Players ~ Daniel Negreanu

So that’s it for now, next post I may do a topic in more detailed analyses but based on just one subject, or I may do the same thing again, I guess it’s all down to what happens in my life, and life in general. Hopefully a good start, and any suggestions and comments are always welcome. Just my opinions basically….Have a great 2017!!!!!

“A Minor Celebrity in My Own Life’s Story”

No doubt this will be on of those hilarious things I look back on when I’m 10 years into the future, but for now, in the present, this seems like it could be as good as any other place to make a start:

I am twenty nine years old, living in North West Florida, just north of Tallahassee, single, and  content with the life I have, maybe not so with in the life i lead.

Originally I’m from the United Kingdom, Leeds, specifically, and I emigrated here to the United States for a number of reasons, being a citizen, therefore not needing a green card being one of them!

My true family consists of: Me, and my Dad. Although i think I do have many cousins in the UK due to my late grandmothers side of things. However, I am proud to have a big family base that isn’t connected by the mixing of bodily fluids, i.e all of my friends.

I hold a University degree ( 2:1 BSc Creative Sound and Music Technology), which although I haven’t implemented as well as I could have (after gaining it), is still one of my finest personal achievements.

Speaking of which; I have been part of a band that was extremely fortunate to become more than a sum of it’s parts and gotten a lot further ahead than it had a right to. A lot of life experience was gained through this band doing well, and a look forward to the day when i can hopefully return to the life of having music as my functioning way of living.  My first instrument is: the drum kit. Although I can play keyboard/synth, bass, and guitar (not greatly).

Soccer/Football/Footie is also a major part of my life, and has been since I was about 5 years old. Though I was never blessed with the skills and abilities of my peers, I still believe I have picked up other useful attributes that can be transferable to a team set up. In fact, at present I am captain of my co-ed eleven a side, and have just been promoted to my first role as head coach of Florida State University’s Woman’s Club Soccer side. So hopefully somewhere in the football world I am of some use. I support Leeds United A.F.C, and maybe on that day when I look back on this first post, laughing, maybe, just maybe, we will have risen again.

I have no pets, though I do like both; cats and dogs.

And although I have no tattoos or piercings I do quiet appreciate the alternative independent aspects of the cultural world, with my musical/band/artist taste:

Politically, I’m left leaning, and would like a system that can support, sustain, and hold up standards for the workers, kind of what Labour is supposed to stand for. So i guess I’m more left of Labour now, but certainly more right than the socialist view.

Food wise; Im pretty much the opposite of a veggie! I like Indian, Mexican, BBQ, Italian, Chinese cuisines the most.

All of the things above that I have introduced I will most likely be using this blog to go into further detail on, but for now just an introduction to myself.
